Parks in Solano County

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

Solano County has a lot to offer in the way of the great outdoors, including numerous local, regional, and state parks, as well as a number of dog-friendly parks. The steep hilly grasslands and oak woodlands provide habitat for a wide variety of species, including many rare and endangered ones. Here’s just a taste of what’s available for your and your dog’s outdoor enjoyment in Fairfield and beyond.

Cordelia Community Park

Friendly people, great views overlooking the delta, a skate area, two baseball fields, and a grassy area perfect for soccer or flag football make this large, clean, and well-designed recreation area extremely popular with dog lovers. Owners especially appreciate the two separate areas for small and large dogs.

Rockville Hills Park

This gorgeous 600 plus acre park is perfect for hiking and family fun, and it’s pet-friendly, too. When the land was purchased by Fairfield in the 1960’s it was with a golf course in mind. Instead, it’s now a favorite destination for hikers, spring wildflower enthusiasts, and mountain bikers. Dogs are welcome, but they must be leashed.

Laurel Creek Park

A great neighborhood park to bring the kids to, there’s plenty of green space, baseball fields, and a playground. There’s also an after-school program center.

Lagoon Valley Park

Located in Vacaville, this 470-acre park offers boating, fishing, hiking, and more. There’s an off-leash area for dogs, multiple picnic areas with BBQs and tables, and mountain biking trails. Horseback riding, a small playground for the kids, and a Frisbee golf course make this a great family destination.

Andrews Park

Vacaville residents love this park for its proximity to town, the Downtown Creekwalk, and terrific play area for the kids. It features 18 acres of mature, lush foliage, and every summer there’s outdoor music and dancing.

A city’s parks offer more than fun activities and great places for taking canine family members. They are vital to a vibrant and thriving community. They offer an affordable place to exercise, take in nature, and spend time with the family. You can meet fellow residents who share common interests, make new friends, and discuss neighborhood issues and concerns.
